AI Programs for Students

As we continue to grow, we're expanding early-talent pathways through dedicated AI and Data Science internship programs, graduate rotational opportunities, and research partnerships that support advanced study, including Masters and Phd-level work. 

Internships & Co‑op Placements: Our internships and co‑op roles are full‑time, paid opportunities where you work on real projects—not simulations—with clear impact. You’ll gain coaching and mentorship from leaders, engineers, and data scientists, and get hands‑on experience with Manulife’s global technology ecosystem and tools. You’ll also be part of a supportive early‑career community with events, workshops, and networking. Many students use these experiences as a pathway into our New Graduate GRO program.

Master’s‑Level Practicums & Applied Research: We partner with leading universities to offer structured practicum opportunities for Master’s students in data science, machine learning, and related fields. These placements give you the chance to solve industry‑defined challenges, build portfolio‑ready outcomes, and contribute research that drives measurable business value. Practicum students are fully embedded within our teams and have access to mentorship, tools, and learning resources throughout the experience.

PhD Engagements & Advanced Research: Manulife collaborates with graduate programs and research institutions to support PhD‑level work in areas such as machine learning, reinforcement learning, explainable AI, responsible AI, financial modelling, and optimization. PhD students may engage through applied research, data‑driven explorations, or consulting-style projects aligned to our priority problem spaces. This work helps advance our understanding of emerging technologies and contributes to scalable AI capabilities across the enterprise.
